PNEUMONIC INFLUENZA
, # FATAL CASES. REPORTED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, 2nd August. Eight fresh cases of pneumonic influenza have been reported to the Auckland District Health Office during the week-end for the first two days of this month. Two came from the city and one each from Devonpoit, Panmure, Papatoetoe, Morrinsville, Rotorua, and Tauranga. Three deaths were reported, these cases having been reported last month. INVERCARGILL, 2nd August. "While Southland has, in common with other provinces, been subjected to the influenza epidemic, the malady has not assumed the virulent form experienced further North. The two deaths previously reported were not due solely to pneumonic influenza. Today, however, the first death directly due to pneumonic influenza was reported, the patient being a resident of Lumsden. There have been no other notifications.
