GLAMORGAN MATCH

HOME SIDE MAKING A POOR ■ STAND. ■• : (Reuters Telegram.) (Received 3rd August, 11 a.m.) LONDON, 2nd August. The weather was glorious and hot for the second day of the match between the Australians and Glamorgan at Swansea. As the day passed the : wicket showed signs of wear.' The attendance was over 20,000. Mailey and Grimmett had the batsmen in constant difficulties, and every run had to be fought for, the fielding being very smart. Turnbull timed the breaks well, but eventually he misjudged a ball from Grimmett and returned it for an easy catch. The five remaining wickets fell for the addition

of 19 runs. Ryder was lucky not to t be out in Mercer's second over, but r from then onwards he and Ponsford hit I out freely. Ryan, who obtained a big . turn in from leg, worried the batsmen, i and he and Sullivan as a combination } proved too much for the early strikers. The score was 123 for the loss of five wickets when Bardsley and "Woodfull became associated. They soon settled down and carried the total to 200,. when Bardsley declared. Ryan and Bavies had kept an excellent length and gave few opportunities to score, being splendidly assisted by the field. Glamorgan opened the second strike ' disastrously, four wickets being down for 19 runs, then Walters and Davies stopped the rot, driving forcefully till time.
