QUERIED IN PARLIAMENT
INTERNATIONAL OBLIGATIONS. (Australian-New Zealand Cable Assn.) .. (Received 3rd August, 12.45 p.m.) LONDON, 2nd August. Sir Austen Chamberlain, in the House of Commons, replying to a question, denied that there were any negotiations direct or indirect, between the Govornnunt and Turkey for tho sale of 100,000 rifles to Turkey. Thero had been an inquiry by private firms, but nothing had .materialised. There was nothing in International obligations to prevent British firms from supplying Turkey with armaments,' and nothing at the present time to cause him to prohibit such export to Turkey.
