MONEY IN PIGS
As an important adjunct to dairyfarming in Now Zealand, Mr. W. J. Poison recommends that more attention be given to pig raising. For many years swine husbandry was eclipsed in New Zealand by the dairy operations which bulked larger in the farmer's Balance-sheet. Kecently there has been a revival of interest. It is being recognised now that if land in • small areas and at high prices is to be profitably occupied no side-line must be neglected. Every post must be made a winning post. Mr. Poison does not doubt -that the methods which have built up the Danish bacon industry can be applied here so as to obtain increased production and an assured market. 'But if there is to be success the business must be undertaken seriously. Pottering around with a variable supply and uneven quality will not bring in the best return. We hope that the facts to which Mr. Polson has drawn attention will be taken into serious consideration by the Government, the Meat Board, and the farmers themselves.
