MOTORING AFFAIRS
An executive meeting of the Wellington Automobile Club took place yesterday, with Mr. 11. IPiliner in the chair.
Further correspondence was received by tho club from the Post and Telegraph Department over' the matter of the provision of a telephone at the top of the Paekakariki Hill, and* it was left to the chairman and secretary to, finalise the matter.
The speed limit as fixed by the Main Highways Board for lorries going over the Rimutaka Hill was Criticised. It was stated that 15 miles an hour down the hill was a dangerous speed round the corners. It was resolved to protest against the present regulations and to suggest that the speed limit for solid tire vehicles be 12 miles an hour, with a limit of 15 miles an hour for those with pneumatic tires.
It was decided to reiterate the club's desire to have the paving of The Terrace placed on the list of urgent works. The state of the Karori roads was also referred to, and it was stated that a protest had already been lodged with the engineer. Roller-skating on tho part of children on the road opposite tho bandstand in Oriental Bay was the subject of a complaint, and it was decided to ask the traffic department if it can put a stop to tho dangerous practice. Accounts were passed for payment, and a large number of new members was elected, ■, . . * .
