NAVAL DESERTER
YOUNG MAN BEFORE THE COURT.
Described as a deserter from the American Navy, Le Roy Thomas Knnis, aged 24, appeared in tho Magistrate's Court this mornincf to answer a charge of being found by night in possession of an implement for house breaking. Sub-Inspector Harvey said that Ennis had been out of employment for some months. He had forced open a padlock of a gaia 0 e in Kilbirnie with a screwdriver; and was' in the act of starting a motor-cycle when he was discovered. The accused had deserted from the American fleet when it visited New Zealand in August last.
The Magistrate (Mr. E. Page) remanded the accused until to-morrow morning for sentence.
