SPREADING.

The stubborn nature of tho Syrian insurrection is indicated by messages from Egypt, from which it appears that thj movement against th*) French is spreading. The newspaper "L'Espodr" describes a ten-day battle raging since 18th July in the gardens surrounding Damascus, in which 18,000 French troops are engaged. Hitherto the fight has gono without decisive victory on cither side. The French have razed several villages and bombarded the Kurdish quarter of Damascus.
