CARTERTON, This Day. .. A meeting of the Wairarapa South County Council was held on Saturday at Carterton. The tender of Mr. W. D. M'Calmont was accepted for the White and Hinaki Creek Bridges, „nd Mr. E. A. Gray's tender for filling at Booth's Creek Bridge was accepted. The Wellington Meat Export Company were granted permission to remove stones from their property at Waingawa. The Department of Health advised that the council's contribution to the inspector's salary was £84. The Wairarapa Automobile Association were given permission to erect two indication posts at the water race crossing the road near the Waingawa works. The Rocky Hill road is to be inspected with a view to' repairs. Mrs. Pike is to. be p|dd £2 compensation for the use of land for a road at Booth's Creek. ' -'■ '

Tho Hanger reported having dealt with 78 head of stock during Juuc and July. It was resolved to spend up-, to' £20 on Mount Holdsworth road in' October. The water tables are to be cleaned immediately. Waihakeko ayad is to be repaired. . H. O. Thomson is to be paid £5 for work done on Mount Holdsworth road. Tho culvert at the junction of Richmond and. Rutland roads is to be lowered. Mr. Cotter was given permission to erect a fence against the Te Wham Creek. A list of rates in arrears is to be prepared for next meeting. The overseer was given authority to sell two of the old motor-trucks.
