WALMATE, This Day

A shocking tragedy occurred at Hool eight miles from Waimate, yesterday when Mrs. Alma Robinson, wife - oi Leonard Peter Robinson, -a farmer by occupation, apparently attempted to drown her young children, with the result that a four months old baby died and the eldest girl is in hospital. While the husband was attending church Mrs. Robinson took her four children to Hook Creek nearby, and returned to the house about noon, with wet clothes. Noticing her drenched condition, Miss,Anderson, a household help, took the baby from the mother's arm? and found it was dead. Miss Anderson then went in search of the other child ren, finding- two just outside' the housj and tho eldest girl, aged six and a half unconscious in a paddock. The clothe of all the children were wet. The eldes'. girl was brought round by the fatho who had returned home, and was takei. to the hospital. ~ Mrs. Robinson "lias been in bad healt! for some time, and apparently her miV became deranged. An inquest on f ".' baby is being held to-morrow. '." .
