RELIEVED BY CREDITORS.

AUCKLAND, 20th July. Faced recently with a heavy deficit by last year's festival, the Auckland Competitions Society reported to last night's annual meeting that, apart from the arranging of a composition with the creditors, the City Council had postponed £200 rental until the society was in a better position, while the adult prize-winners were not pressing for their trophies, conditionally on the society continuing to function. The new year was thus begun with £150 in hand. Mr. Culford Bell, of Wellington, had agreed to act as elocutionary judge next October, and negotiations were being made with Mr. Robert Parker, of Wellington, and Mv W, Page* Gmh, o£
