LONDON, 9th July,
Sussex, in the first innings against Yorkshire at Dewsbury, made 181, Rhodes taking four wickets for 58 runs. In the second innings Sussex made 113, Kilner taking five for 35. Yorkshire declared in the first innings, when seven wickets had fallen for 385. Yorkshire won by an innings and 91 runs. Playing at ' Manchester against Somerset, Lancashire in the first innings r.ade 192 (Green 50, Makepeace 60), White taking six wickets for 81. In the seconci innings the Lancastrians made 183 (Makepeace 63, Mac Donald 50). Somerset in the'first innings made 214 (Lyon 83), Mac Donald taking five wickets for 96 runs. In the second innings Somerset lost three wickets for 45 runs, the match then being abandoned owing to rain. Playing1 for Warwickshire against Kent at Tunbridge Wells, Parsons scored 125, and for Kent Hardinge took six wickets for 32 runs. Kent won. Playing for Essex against Glamorgan at Cardiff, Freeman scored 118 and O 'Connor took six wickets for 53 runs and Nicholls five for 47. Essex won. Playing for Leicestershire against Notts at Nottingham, Astill was undefeated for 158, while for Notts Whysall scored 109. Notts won.
