HUTT PARK COMMITTEE
The quarterly meeting of the Hutt Park Committee was held last evening. Present: Mr. G. Cook (chairman) and Messrs. A. J. Hobbs, X P. Rishworth, D. M'Carthy. The Rugby League and the Association lootball Club wrote applying for grounds, and the secretary was instructed to reply that none were available. The Boy Scouts were granted a small ground on the same terms as last year. The Congregational Camp Committee will be informed that the Park Committee regrets that it cannot grant additional space for the camp next Christinas. The Hutt Valley Harriers asked for a piece of ground on which they could erect their dressing shed. It was decided that the executive should meet the harriers on the ground, with power to come to an -agreement on the question. The City Council advised that steps would be taken to cover the water mains passing through the park. The Wellington Trotting Club asked if the committee would seek legislation to enable it to grant the club a "Glasgow lease?' The committee held over consideration of the question pending the receipt of an opinion from the' committee's solicitor. The Lower Hutt Borough Council asked if the committee would dedicate sufficient land to enable Randwick road to be widened to 80 feet. The question was held over for consideration at a special meeting. The Waiwetu Golf Club complained of the flooding of Nos. 7 aud 8 fairways owing to the operations of the River Board in deepening the Waiwetu stream H was decided to request the River Board to remedy the matter. A proposal was before the committee from the Lands Department to exchange an area north of the park for an area south of the park and also south of the Waiwetu stream. This matter was also held over pending an interview with the Lands Department.
