ENGINEERS HONOURED

Members of the Marine Engineers' Institute gathered last evening, when the Hon. W. Earnshaw, M.L.C., was presented with the emblem of the institute, and made an honorary life member. A presentation was also made to Mr. A. Levestam, who recently retired from the service of the Union Steam Ship Company.

The president of the institute (Mr. Galloway) referred eulogistically a to the service which Mr. Earnshaw had rendered for the benefit of engineers. He had been connected with the engineering profession all his life, and had always been a credit to that profession. In presenting Mr. Levestam with an initialled attache case and a fountain pen. Mr. Galloway referred to the fact that Mr. Levestam was a very old member of the institute and had enjoyed a long and distinguished career as a marine engineer, having on all occasions given his services to the ennobling of his profession.

The secretary also paid a tribute to Mr. Earnshaw and to Mr. Levestam, emphasising how deeply grateful the institute felt to the former gentleman for his assistance in raising that body to the high position which it now enjoyed. Mr. Earnshaw and Mr. Levestam suitably replied.
