CHRISTCHURCH, 9th June,

At a meeting of tho Christchurch Presbytery, Dr. R. Erwin moved: — "That this Presbytery desires to express its appreciation of the stand taken by the Prime Minister against lotteries, which by their frequency, the large prizes offered, and by the strenuous efforts made to sell tickets, are demoralising the public by fostering and diffusing the spirit of gambling." The motion Was carried unanimously.
