James Fleming, an engineer, aged, 24 pleaded guilty to the theft of a steel guitar and case, valued at £5 ss, the property of Leonard Tickle, and to.stealing a stnng of pearls, a lady's dross, and a safety razor, valued at £5 3s 6d, the proPerty of Doris Barlow. Chief-Detective Ward said that Fleming had stolen the articles from a boarding-house in Wellington and had been arrested on the Lyttelton ferry steamer. The accused was remanded for sentence to Friday morning, pending the report' of the Probation Officer. One first offendefc for drunkenness was fined 10a, the amount of his bail, and two others were convicted and discharged.'
