BY FRANCE, NOT BY SPAIN
KRIM ADMITS DEFEAT.
(Received Ist June, noon.) TARIS, 31st May. Abd cl Krim informed "Le Journal" that he would have made peace with Franco before, and also liberated hig prisoners, but he could not accede to France's demand for the release of Spaniards. He emphasised that he had been defeated by France, arid not by Spain. "I only ask," he said, "that I shall not be handed over to I the Spanish authorities. My family and. suite shall not be accused. I alone am responsible, because I alone commanded."
