One of the curious by-products of the winding-up o£ Wembley was the discovery of a hitherto unknown source of livelihood. A party of women who had been employed at the Amusement Park arrived at a, laboup exchange, where either new employment was soughs or unemployment doles were asked lev. The official in charge asked what had br-'m their duties, and was told that they were "professional screamers," engaged to ptovoke excitement on the flip-flaps, helter-skelter, joywheels, roller-coasters, and various other hair-raising sources of so-called entertainment.
