SETTLED OUT OF COURT
DAMAGES IN MOTOR COLLISIONS
. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. In the Supreme Court yesterday the hearing was concluded of the claim made by a motor-cyclist against a lorry owner in regard to a collison on the North road. The jury, after an hour's retirement, was recalled this afternoon, counsel having effected a settlement. The plaintiff, James Milne, a labourer of Belfast, claimed £434 damages from H. Mottram, farmer, of Belfast. On 16th February the plaintiff was awarded £209 2s 3d, but a motion for a new trial was granted. The terms of settlement are that the plaintiff shall receive £200, which is substantially the same as the amount awarded at the first .trial. A claim for £1657 14s as damage, following a collison was to be heard in the Supreme Court to-day, but a settlement was effected out of Court for £850. The plaintiff was Jack Walter Meredith Snow, grocer's assistant,' and' the defendant was the Dominion Me» tors, Ltd.
