"Surgery is the only effective means of treating internal cancer," said Dr. Francis Carter Wood, the cancer expert, before the National Health Congress. He added that professional' optimism regarding the curative value of radium and X-ray treatment was unwarranted, and the public should realise that no cure for this disease had yet been found.
