MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Police and summons cases were dealt with by Mr W. G. Biddell, S.M., at the Magistrate* Court yesterday. A first-offending inebriate was fined 10s. James Casey, a fourth offender for drunkenness, was fined £1, and a prohibition order was issued against him. Lindsay Clareburt was sentenced to fourteen days' imprisonment for deserting from the steamer Matatua. Adeline Barnao was fined£2 for Sunday trading. John Marshall Savidge was fined £2 for entering a hotel while prohibited. Arthur Allan Lewer was fined £10 for selling milk containing added water. -\ Andrews was fined £2 for failing to keep a wages and overtime book. For failing to close shops at the required time, the following fines were imposed:—J. Fowler, W. C. Potter, S. H. Sapford, A. D. Dallow, Mrs. M. Goer, L. Gent, E. .Adams, Mrs. A. Reed, J. Black, J. H. Ladkin, T. Bennett, Sidney George Hoare, £1 each; F. C. Hall, A. J. Day, £1 10s each;'Wong Poy, E. B. M'Gavin, George Prime, £2 each; S. Glazier, E. Flint, £3 each. For selling cigarettes after hours, Young How Bros, were fined £4; E. Flint £3, Ah Leon, Wong Poy, £2 each; H. Wong and Co., Krs. M: Beck, Mrs. W. Culshaw, L. Gent, L. On Lee and Co., £1 each; E. Nind, 10s.
