V.M.C.A. DEFEAT BROOKLYN
In a match that was marked by even play in the first r.pell and anything but even play in the second, V.M.C.A. easily defeated Brooklyn at Newtown Park, the final score being seven goals to one. There was little to choose between the teams in the first spell, and the fact that V.M.C.A. gained the lead by two goals to one was due to the bad luck (and at times faulty shooting) of the Brooklyn forwards. Stark and Ballard did the scoring for V.M.C.A. in the first spell, and W. Anton for Brooklyn. The second spell was all in favour of last year's champions, who carried all before them, and goals were scored by Ballard (2), Nicolle (from a penalty), M'Girr, and Orr. The game ended: V.M.C.A. 7, Brooklyn 1. Mr. S. Wilson was the referee.
