"THE YOUNG PERSON IN PINK."

Miss Hardinge-Maltby is well known as an excellent producer of clever plays, and the performance of Gertrude Jennings three-act comedy, '"The Young Person in Pink," was one of her best efforts. The entertainment was given at the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall last night, when there was a good and appreciative audience, arid the ' play went with great spirit. Delicious sweets were sold under charge of Mrs. H. J. Williams, and will be offered again, to-night, when the second and last performance takes place. Ihe vocal soloist for the evening was Mr. L. Bryan, and Miss Mona Goodwill will smg to-night. Orchestral music of a bright and acceptable kind was provided by Mrs. Natusch (piano), Miss Henry (violin), and Mr. Wynne. Watkins ('cello). The play itself 16 most amusing, and the character study given by Miss. Hardinge-Maltby of Mrs Badger, an undertaker's widow, was full of humour..- Miss Molly Mbrpeth was charming as "The Young Person in Pink, who is the daughter of a duchess who suddenly loses her memory while on a tram journey, and cannot remember her own name. The scene in the park, where the balloon-seller, Mrs. Smith (Mrs- J. G. Anderson), endeavours to sell balloons to all and sundry was well performed. Mr. Vernon Oswin (a park-keeper) caused much amusement, and good studies were nven by Miss Pauline Shotlander, Miss Kathryn Murie, Mr. Lionel Inch, while the minor parts performed by Misses Adelaide Carruthers, Hazel Jackson, Kuby May, Rona Benbow, and Olga ■ Gilberd were all well carried out.. Incidental characters, who, with .the principals, were very chamingly dressed, were Misses Audrey May, Amy- Griffiths, Enid !I olley, Gweri Wilkie, Helen Caddick, and Master Tommy Parsonage. A number of bouquets and baskets of flowers were presented to some of the performers at the close ot the play. . ■ : ;.-.
