' The. party .of.' English and Scottish University student: debaters; ati present in.Duhedin, will arrive in Wellington on Thursday, and will be accorded a reception by. the Mayor. The four members of the party are Messrs. Molson, of the Oxford Union, M( Donald, of Edinburgh University, Eeed, of London, and Nunn-•May,.-.of Manchester, and left their universities three or four months ago upon an Empire tour as representatives of students 'in English and Scottish universities.'That they are able debaters may .bo gathered from the fact that out of twenty debates in which they took part'en route to New Zealand they were adudged winners on all but three occasions.

The subject for the iirst debato waa Kuggested'by the visitors,,and the issue will be whether the tendencies towards the disruption oiMho Empire are to be "viewed with concern." The affirmative will be taken.by Messrs. Molson mid M'Donald, together with Mr. A. E. Hurley, of "Victoria College. • The negative view will be presented by Messrs. P. Martin-Smith and J. W. Gf. Davidson, "of Victoria College, and Mr. Paul Reed (London University). The final debate, to bo ,held in the main Town Hall on Saturday next, will bear on -.the Bible in schools. The case for religious instruction in schools will be presented by Messrs. M'Donald and Beed, of tho visiting team, and hv Miss Mary Cooley and Mr. J. T. V. Steele, of tho Victoria College Debating Society. The negative will be taken by two visitors,. Messrs. Mokon and May, together with two local students, Messrs.jjiW. P. Rollings and R. M. Campbell. ■ A vote of the audience will be taken immediately after tho debate in both cases. Both debates will be open to the public, and «eala may be reserved at The Bristol.
