DEBATE ON THE PRACTICE OF LAW

' ..■•.' -♦ A visitors' debate on the subject "That the practice of law has a demoralising eftect on the practitioner" is to be held tomorrow evening by the' Victoria University College, Debating Society. In addition to the college speakers, two visitors wi take part in the debate. The motion will be supported by Mr. \V. A. Sheat, U.A., hh.B., of Haweraj and it will be opposed, by Mr. W,. E. Leicester, LL.B , barrister and solicitor. The idea of holding visitors' debates of this nature, in which the participation of public men is secured, .was suggested to the Univeristy Debating Society by the late Lord Bryce during a visit to Wellington some years ago. It is a practice'which holds at the older English universities of Oxford and Cambridge. To-morrow night's debate is to be held in the gymnasium building at Victoria College, commencing at 8 o'clock, and will be. open to the public without charge.-
