AUCKLAND, This Day. i An iron cylinder in a galvanising bath | 'exploded at the ironworks of S. 11 Parker, Ltd., and five men were removi, cd to hospital, arid others sustained I minor injuries. The men in hospital j', are C Wheeler, with severe burns on ji the face and arms'and his left eyoinII jured; F. Home, E. H. Beechy, and G. j, Soaros, with burns.on their faces and |! arms; E. -;C.' Willet.ts,.- with slight burns' j on the face and arms. j G. Graydon, who received minor burns 1 tbout the' ar,ms, stated that ho was | standing besido tho'ziite' bath, which \. contained molten -zinc and sal am- ]: moniac. The other, "men were stationJ' ed at various .positions around tho bath, \ and all were assisting to haul a cylin''cler from the bath. Tho cylinder was : ; blown from the ropes that held it, andI : struck Graydon, who was knocked back ' 'into a tub.of sawdust, with his arms : ! burnt by molten zinc. The rest of.-the 1 men were showered with -zinc, which set .-'fire to their clothing and hair. One ■j man's hair, said Graydon, was alight, •■ and when his mate endeavoured to ex- ■ j tinguish it with his'-hat, that too was ? Bet on fire. Tho shirts worn by tho j men taken to hospital were, burnt to 1 (ribbons.
