THAMES HARBOUR

TRIAL OF NEW DREDGE,

(By telegraph. —Press Association.) THAMES, This Day. A very successful trial run of the new dredge built to assist the new harbour works, now in course of construction, was made in the presence of the Harbour Board last evening. A new wharf, costing £9000, has just been completed, and the harbour walls are being gradually extended, and will embrace an area of 114 acres. The dredge is a suction cutter, specially designed to suit the local conditions by the board's engineer, Mr. E. F. Adams, and cost £11,500. It iB run entirely by crude oil engines. An early start will be made to deepen the harbour, which will be dredged to a depth of 25 feet at high water and. 15 feet at low water.
