COAL MINE IDLE

A QUESTION OF EMPLOYMENT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WESTPORT, 29th March. The Stockton mine is idle as a result of a dispute between the miners and the management oyer the employment of some men, the management having, it is alleged, given preference to some late-comers. The miners contend, that the men unemployed and waiting in the district should have been first- considered. Apparently all was right on Friday to resume work, but a hitch occurred on Saturday and the mine is still idle.
