WOOL SALES.

LONDON, 24th. March. .At the wool series a miscellaneous selection met strong general competition. , Prices were firm. New Zealand realisations: Cheviot Hills, top price 23d, average 22Jd; Tauroa, 17d and. lSjd. (Received 26th March, 2 p.m.) LONDON, 25th March. The wool sales closed with a tone cheerful and confident.' Competition throughout was satisfactory and widespread, except for the United States, which only tool; about 1500 bales. Compared with the January closing, merinos, greasy, show par to 5 per cent, advance: scoureds, difficult of sale, many withdrawn owing to high reserves; crossbreds, finest, 5 per cent, advance; all other grades slightly. easier. Lambs and crossbreds slightly dearer. Merinos irregular, occasionally in buyers' favour. New Zealand ' "Waicre," 16d and 15d; Brooklands, 16d, 14% d. The Bradford market is slow, and business difficult. Topmakers' quotations are firm; crossbreds a shade easier; 48's, 44d; 33's, 26d; 22's, 21d. " Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having received the following cablegram from their London house, under date of the 25th instant: "Wool sales closed Arm with good competition.. As compared with last sale's closing rates, greasy merinos, good to super, Id to lV^d higher.. Scoured merinos, unchanged; greasy merino lambs and greasy fine crossbreds, Id to IVid higher. Greasy lambs, par to Id higher. Greasy, medium, and coarse crossbreds, par to Vid lower, with the exception of greasy super 40-44's suitable for America and the Conent, which are par to Id higher; greasy ordinary merinos, part to Id higher. Scoured crossbreds, a change in price, if any, is in sellers' favour;, fine slipes, _Mjd to 2d lower; medium and coarse slipes, Id to lV^d lower. 142,650 bales offered, including 47,000 New Zealand, 3500 Cape, 20,500 South American. Sold 98,500 colonial, 20,000 South American, and sundry wools. The Continent bought 66,000, Home trade 48,000, America 4500. 49,000 Bale1! were carried forward, of which 34,000 were not offered. Tho following is the range of prices:— Merino, good to super, 22d to 26% d; low to medium, lSd to 21d. Halfbred, 56/58, good to super, 21d to 24^d; low, to medium, 18d to 20d. Halfbred, 50-5", good to super, 19Jd to 22Jd; low to medium, 16'/4d to 19d. .Fine crossbred, 48/50, goodl to super, 16 %d to 19Vi>d; low to, medium, .14d to 16d. Fino crossbred, 46/48, good to super, 15M.d to 17% d; low to medium, 13'/4d to 15d; Crossbred, 44/46, good to super, 14'/ 2 d to 16d; low to medium, 12y 2 d to 14d. Halfbred, 50/36, good to super, 10V4d to 22% d; low to medium, 12d to 13 Coarse crossbred, 36/40, good to super, 13V£d fo 15d; low to medium, lid to 13d." Messrs. Levin and Co., Ltd., have received tho following cable from their Loudon ugeuts. dated 25th March:—"The auctions closed here to-day with a good tone. As compared with the opening rates of this scries, we quote: Greasy merino best, no change; greasy merino average, no change; fine hnlfbrcds, 50/ufi's, Vsd per lb dearer; halfbrcds, 48-50's, {t\ per lb dearer; .crossbreds, no change; scoured crossbreds, no change: scoured merinos, Id to 2d'per lb dearer. in receipt of the following wool market cablegram from their London agents, dated 25th instant: —"Sales have closed firm; competition not quite so keen as last week. Compared with present London sales' opening rates greasy merino, best descriptions, advanced 5 per cent.; good, par to 5 per cent, advance; average descriptions, market £hows no.material change; good broken pieces, par to 5 per cent, advance. Scoured merino, best, advanced 5 per cent.; other descriptions, market irregular and shows no change. ' Crossbred greasy comeback advanced 5 per cent. Crossbred greasy fine advanced 5 to 7_ per cent.; medium, market shows no change; coarse, market firm; crossbred greasy well-grown and sound, advanced 5 per cent. Crossbred scoured and crossbred slipe, par to 5 per cent, advance. Quotations: 00/64's (N.Z. merino), yielding 48 per cent., 22d; 56's, yielding 60 per cent., 22d; 50's, yielding 65 per cent., 17i/»d; 44/46's preparing, yielding 74 per cent., 15d; 44/46's . carding, yielding 72 per cent., 14d; 40/44's, yielding 3 per cent., 13% d; 36/40's, yielding 75 per cent., 13V£d." ,The Bank of. New Zealand, produce department, has received the following .advice from its. London Office, under date 25th inst. The market is closing rather quiet. Current quotations:—Crossbred, fine 16Msd to 18d per lb; crossbred, medium 14d to 14% d per lb;, crossbred, coarse 13d to 13V.d per lb; halfbreds, 19d to 2ld per lb; merinos, super 24d to, 26d per lb; merinos, ordinary 21d to 22d per lb; merinos, inferior 18d to 19d per lb.

■SYDNEY, 25th March. The nineteenth series of wool sales has concluded. Prices ruled firm, with a tendency in sellers' favour, whjch was particularly noticeable in tte finer descriptions and skirtings. Satisfactory clearances were made. Greasy merino sold at up to 303 d. The next series will begin on the 19th April. .
