MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Police and summons cases were dealt ' With by Mr. E. Page, S.M., at the Magistrate's Court to-day. One first-offender for drunkenness, ' Who did not appear, was fined the amount of his bail, 10s. For a breach of-his prohibition order, Cecil.Albert Pearce was fined £I.' John: Seollen was fined £3 for hindering a constable in the execution of , his duty. He was allowed a fortnight in which to pay his fine. For failing to close their shop at the ■ proper time on |ho statutory half-holi-days, Barnao Bros., with several prej yious convictions against them, were lined £10. Similarly charged, A. Josephs was fined £3. Charles Erancis Bell, barman of the Thistle Inn Hotel, was convicted and fined £5 on n chargo of supplying liquor, after hours, , A similar penalty ■ was imposed in- the case of Johanna Oben, licensee of the hotel, who was . charged with selling liquor after hours, ; Mr. 11. F. O'Lcary, for tho defence, asked that tho penalties be increased ' by one shilling each in order to allow an appeal to bo made, if that course , was decided upon. Tho application was granted. Theo Walters was fined £2 for being illegally on licensed premises after hours.
