Mr. Benjamin Perry, of the Occidental Hotel; is dead, at the age of 81, states a Press Association message from Christchurch. He had been a hotel licensee for 55 years, in Oamaru; Dunedin, and Christchurch, without a break. ■ . .
Mr. John Robertson, son of Mr; and Mrs. J. M. Eobertson, of Westport, winner of the youths' B flat cornet solo and runner-up for the senior championship at 'the Dunedin Exhibition, was "entertained at a civic gathering at Westport and given numerous presents on the eve of his departure for Albany, West Australia, to join the Australian Silver Band. Mr. A. W. Mouat, who for some time has been an acting-momber of the board, has been appointed to the vacancy oji the Board of Management of, the New Zealand Eailways, caused by the resignation of ;Mr. .\H. ■ H,. Sterling, who hag; been appointed-to an '"'import? ant administrative •" position ' with the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company. ■ Mr. Mouat was assistant traffic manager oi the Wellington-Manawatu Railway Company when its line was taken over by the Government in 1908, having been in the service of the company since 1890. In October,' 1914,' Mr. Ilouat was transferred to-the head office of the Kailway. Department, - and filled various important positions . on the traffic side. .
Captain L. M. Isitt, who has b^eii in .command of the Wigram aerodrome! for the past few years, will leave shortly on a Visit to England, where he; will undergo a course of seaplane flying. He will be away for about twelve months, and o l his return he will take charge of the Auckland aerodrome where 'seaplanes: as well as aeroplanes will be housed.: Wi".- the departure of Captain IsiH the Wigram aerodrome will be in charge of; u'aptain J.
