EMPIRE SETTLEMENT ACT
ITS WORKING UP TO DATE,
(United Press Association—Copyright.) (Australian-New Zealand Cable Assn.) LONDON, sth February. In the House of Commons, £ne Colonial Secretary, Mr. L. C. M. Amery, informed Mr. Neil M'Lean (Lab.) that under the Empire Settlement Act from 1922 to date, £1,245,254 had been expended, and 131,000 persons assisted. The Act allowed a yearly expenditure of £3,000,000. Also under the ex-ser-vice men's plan £"2,419,410 had been expended from 1919 to 1922, and 86,175 persons assisted.
