HAWKES BAY TOURNAMENT
DANNEVIRKE, 30th January. The Hawkes Bay provincial championship tourney was continued to-day in showery weather. All championship' eventß were concluded, the results being:— Girls' Singles Final.—Miss J. Morrison (Dannevirke) defeated Miss Howell (Napier), 7-5, 7-5. . Ladies' Singles. Semi-final.—Mrs. Green defeated Miss .J. Morrison, 6-2, 6-3; Miss Cato defeated Miss Bennett, 4-6,. 6-3, 7-5. Final.—-Mrs. Green (Dannevirke) defeated Miss Cato (Napier), 1-5, 6-2. . Combined Doubles. Semi-final.—Andrews and Miss Bennett ' defeated Lowry and Miss Cato, 6-8, 6-4, 7-5. Final.—Andrews and Miss Bennett (Palmerston North) defeated S. Powdrell (Waveriey) and Mrs. Hetley (Napier), 6-2, 7-5. Ladies' Doubles. Final.—Misses Cato and Cotterell (Napier) defeated Mrs. Hetley (Napier) and Miss Bennett (Hastings), 6-4, 6-3. Men's Doubles. Final.—Andrews (Palmerston North) and Lowry (Hastings) defeated Powdrell brothers (VVaverleyJ, 6-1, 6-3. Men's Singles. Final.—Andrews (Palmerston North) defeated S. Powdrell (Waveriey), 6-2. 3-8, 6-2. Andrews won the Hawkes Bay^ Chat? lenge Cup fof the men's championship singles', and Knight the challenge cup for the Dannevirke Tennis Chib"s hien's championship singles. Mrs. Green takes the Hawkeß Bay challenge cup for the HaWkeS Bay ladies' championship singles, and the Giesen Cup for the Dannevirke Club's ladies' championship singles.
