Alluding to portents of trade improvement, Mi\ Baldwin at Sundertand said that since the imposition of silk duties 50 new silk companies had been registered in Britsvn. and many Continental firms had arrenged to build factories in Britain, which, after America, he said, is the largest producer of artificial silk in the world.
