EASTEB TOUBNAMENT DECIDED!
The monthly meeting of the Wet lington Bowling Centre was held last evening, Mi. 8. M. Stone presiding.
The treasurer reported that there was a, credit balance of £143 15s. '
It was decided to hold Veterans* Day on Tuesday, 16th February, and details were fully arranged. .The president's offer of gold medals for the finalists was accepted with thanks*
In view of the number of bowling fixtures, donbt Was expressed whether a team could be obtained to visit Christchurch for the Barnett Tiki, but, on the other side, it was suggested that, with the number of bonders in Wellington, a team ol thirtytwo could readily be arranged, and that even if the number of rinks was restricted to 'four, a visit would ba more appreciated by Christchurch th«n allowing the fixture to lapse. It was arranged that the secretary writs clubs asking for members willing to, make the trip. The date was left to be fixed. , . ...:..., "'..'.'..
In response to the Marlborough' Centre's offer to send a team, to Wellington on 11th February, it was diej cided to reply that owing to the visit of the British bowlers, the Wellington Centre could not then receive them, but would be pleased to do so on 25th February. ■■ . .',„.' THE BBITISH VISITORS. ' The following recommendations by} the committee appointed to arrange for the entertainment of the British! bowlers were adopted:—' ' ""
Saturday, 6th February.— Visitiri arrive by the Tamahine from Pieton, to be conveyed by Corporation or other buses from steamer to hotel. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.—lt was decided to recommend that one game per day be play-, ed in the afternoons against group* of clubs affiliated to the centre. The groups have been arranged as follows, and the days of play were drawn hy. lot: Monday, Bth February, on Victoria Green; against Victoria (2 rinks), Kelburn (2 rinks), bland fin (2 rinks), Wellington (8 rinks);'Hadies to be guests of .Victoria dab. Tuesday, 9th February, on Hataitai Green; against Hataitai (2 rinks), Beatoun (2 rinks), LyaH Bay (8 rinks), Newtown (2 rinks). Wednesday, 10th February, on Hutt Green; against Hutt (2 rinks), Petone (j rinks), Central (2 risks), Eastbourne (1 rink), Upper Hutt (1 rink). Thursday, 11th February, en Thoradon Green; against Thornton (J rinks), Karon (2 rinks), JohnsonTflJe (2 rinks), Otaki (1 rink), intait^.n^ (1 rink). The club upon whose green, the matches are played to be the convener of a meeting of the clubs in the respective groups to decide the nature of the entertainment to be provided, the expense thereof to bo borne by the clnbs in each fMp; the centre to provide for tho transport of the visitors to and from tho greens. Friday, 12th February<-4!h* visitors will be the guests of the Wellington Bowling Club. Smoke eoßeeri to be held in Concert Chamber, Towa Hall, on Wednesday, 10th February. Invitation to visitors. Ladies to bo entertained at theatre party on tho same evening as smoke concert, and by Mrs. Stone on Tuesday afternoon. It was decided to. leave the mornings free for the visitors to please themselves.
It was resolved that the visitors be presented with Wellington Centre badges at the smoke concert.
On the motion of Mr. F. Meadow>croft, it was decided to hold a centre' pairs tournament at Easter. It wa* decided to refuse, permission to the Eastern Suburbs to hold an Easter tournament.
Mr. Meadowcroft reported variou alterations to the Dominion rules, and also upon the Dominion tournament at Dunedin.
