AMATEUR ATHLETICS
CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING.
Keen interest is being taken in the various championships to be contested at Athletic Park on Saturday, and the competition is expected to be exceptionally keen. D. Paris is the present holder of the 220 yds title, but the ex-College champion, C. H. Jenkins, has been running so well of late that he should extend the champion. Reports from Masterton, indicate that T. Oakly, the Wairarapa cyclist, is riding at the top of his form this season, and Wairarapa supporters are confident that hejwill press Flett, the local champion, very close. Of course, L. A. Rose will be the outstanding figure in the distance events, but with good athletes like Priestly, the 'Varsity champion, and Dufresne competing he will have no easy task. The 100 yds, 440 yds, and half-mile championships have also drawn entries from New Zealand's best runners, including Leadbetter, Kyle, Campbell, Mitchell, and Newton. Altogether a fine day's sport is assured.
