MIRAMAR QUEEN CARNIVAL.
The Miramar Band and the Maraenui Oddfellows' Lodge, who are combining, have arrangements well in hand for the carnival which is to take place at the Miramar Junction on several acres ot land kindly loaned by the State Advances Office. The carnival commences on Monday and terminates next Saturday. It will be officially opened by Mr. Wright, M.P., on Monday evening, at 7.30 o'clock. There will be a!l kinds ot side shows, merry-go-round, ocean wave, an excellent floor for dancing, and a first-class orchestra. A band will be in attendance each evening, and gymnastic displays will be given by the V.M.C.A.: nigger minstrels and a concert party of Canon Feilden Taylor, together with all kinds ot' stalls and attractions will cater for young and old. The Caledonian Society will hold a competition of RcVttish dancing and piping, with tin excellent concert to follow on Saturday afternoon mid evening. Entries to be lodged with the secretary of the Caledonian Society. The Athletic Association Will hold an evening meeting over short distances on Wednesday, and the harriers will hold a cross-country race tn be finished in the carnival grounds. ' Entries for these events should be lodged with Mr. A. C. Kitto. The proceeds will be uswl (o purchase a new net «l instruments for the band and a new hall fur the Minimal- branch of the Oddfellows' Lodge. Arrangements have been made for a cat 1 service, which will stop at the gates of the carnival ground.
