Galland sent the first ball he received from Badeock to the fence, but after adding a single he walked in front of a straight one. 7 —5 —128. Zimmerman added, a boundary and then hit the same bowling to Kortlang at square leg. 8 —4 —140. Dickinson joined Blamires and runs came steadily. Wellington made a double bowling change at 169, Henderson replacing Badcock and M'Girr replacing Brice. Blamires commenced scoring freely, several boundaries coming off M'Girr. Blamires reached half a century after being at the wickets 108 minutes. Dickinson was dropped by Badcock in the slips when his score was 15.
