BOWLING TOURNEY
PROGRESS OF RINKS
FIFTH AND SIXTH ROUNDS
A KEMABKABLE SHOT.
(IX tamiM.-KIM UMCUTIOI.)
DUNEDIN, 15th January.
At the Dominion fowling Tournament the rinks championship competition was continued to-day, when the fifth and sixth rounds were completed. The players had to contend with a fairly strong wind, and a sharp shower fell daring the afternoon, bnt play went on uninterrupted and finished at the scheduled time.
One of the most remarkable shots sent up in the course of the tournament was played by Martin, No. 8 for A. N. Smith (Dunedin) in the game against Craw. A toucher belonging to the local playen was lying near the kitty. A Canterbury player trailed the kitty into the ditch and lay a few inches from it The odds seemed all in favour of Canterbury's scoring, but Martin played up to the local toucher and sent it into the ditch between the kitty and the other toucher.
Davies (West End, Timaru) and Gray (Kelburn), in Section A, maintained their unbeaten record, and each has now 6 wins to his credit.
Tonkin (North-East Valloy) had a very easy win against 'Stevenson (Hokitika). He led 20 to 4 on the tenth head, and had no difficulty in holding his lead.
Thomas (British Party) went down to Corkill (Hawera). The game was even up to the twentieth head, but the Hawera man then established a strong lead. Thomas also failed in his game against Gray (Kelbnrn), who, on the last end, scored 7 and put the issue beyond doubt.

Harraway (Dunedin) kept his unbeaten record intact. Playing against Rennio (Christchurch) he won by 30 to 20 on the twenty-fourth head. Wright (British Party) had an even game against Findlay (Mount Eden) to the, fourteenth head, but the Aucklander then forged ahead and won by 28 to 18. Wright opened -well against Harraway, leading 8-2 on the seventh head. Harraway then challenged strongly, and at the seventeenth head led, 17-11. At the twentieth head Wright was only two points down, but the Dunedin men ultimately won, 26-22.

In the game between Walker (Auckland) and Falconer (Otago), the contest was very even, and the issue not decided till the lait head. Falconer led 22-21 with one head to go. The Aucklandew got two on the last head, and won by a point. Malcolm (Balmacewan) had much the better of the game against Bentley, and led throughout to win by 29 to 30.
