OTTAWA, 12th January.

The debate is proceeding in the | House of Commons on the no-confi-,j dence motion of the Conservatives. The expectation is that the vote will be reached on Thursday or Friday.

Mr. Hugh Guthrie, who was Solici-tor-General in the late Conservative Adminstration, announced in the House that, if the Government were defeated and a Conservative Administration formed, the latter would endeavour to carry on from session to session without a dissolution. Mr. Guthrie said he was speaking with the authority of the Conservative leader, Mr. Meighen.
