SERIOUS RIOT AT ALEPPO
REBELS DECLINE AMNESTY
TERRORISM AT ELECTIONS,

LONDON, 13th January
Coinciding with the news that the Syrian rebels have declined the offered amnesty, the Beirut correspondent of "The Times" reports election disturbances at Aleppo, where the mob, after storming the polling stations, penetrated into the Government Buildings, partially wrecking them. Eight demonstrators were killed and a French officer and policeman wounded.
A threatening situation is also developing at the Horns and Hana, where the elections are being boycotted as the result of terrorism by persons, whose action the High Commissioner, M. de Jouvenal, considers a criminal attempt to deprive the electorate of the right of voting: freely. It has been decided to apply the severest measures against the offenders, including hanging and confiscation of property.
