The United States Circuit Court of Appeal has handed down a decision giving the Government a sweeping victory in the case against Doheny, upholding the decision of the hoi Angeles District Court, whereby the Elk Hills Beserve was ordered to be returned. Simultaneously the Appellate Court reversed the Los Angeles decision regarding Doheny, awarding approximately twelve million dollars compensation for the development of Elk Hills Beserves, and the construction of storage tanks at Pearl Harbour, Hawaii. ,

Proceedings were taken in May last against Senator Albert B. Fall, formerly U.S. Secretary for the Interior; E. L. Doheny, oil producer; Harry F. Sinclair, and others regarding oil leases of U.S. oil reserves. Fall and Doheny were charged with conspiring to lease certain Californian oil rosSrves of the U.S. Navy without competitive bidding. The Los Angeles Court convicted Dobeny. The whole proceedings were a sequel to the Teapot Dome oil scandals. .
