Howorth); Mount Cook from Lake Pukaki (Menzies Gibbs); Canterbury Plains and Southern Alps (A. Nicoll). The long spell of hot weather which Taupo enjoyed during the Christmas season was broken on Thursday night and on Friday, when heavy rain showers fell, accompanied by snow and thunderstorms. The storm cleared early on Saturday morning. It was evidently the edge of the disturbance which was experienced in Hawkes Bay, states a Taupo correspondent. The Kaimanawa Ranges aud the National Park area were thickly covered with snow.
