(AUSTRALIAN.NSW ZI.UAND CABLI ASSOCIATION.) (Received 29th December, 10 a.m.) EOME, 28th • December.
The Milan newspaper "Popolo d'ltali," in an outspoken editori.il on the Anglo-Italian debts, which is supposed to reflect Signor Mussolini's opinions, says:—
When two nations suffered^ together for a common victory, a brutal calculation from,a business standpoint regarding the debt of one nation must be corrected by the high political, diplomatic, and historic vision of the negotiator. England would give inestimable *proof of her gratitude to Italy if she accorded her conditions, more favourable than those granted to Italy by the United Spates. Moreover, Italy received no colonial mandates, whereas the English received a largo proportion of the booty of victory. The problem of the gold deposited in England must be kept distinct from the others. The gold was given as a pledge, aud pledges must bp restored.
