IRON AND STEEL WORKS AT DUNEDIN
A DENIAL. (UNITED ■ PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.) (BEUTEE'S TELEGRAM.) LONDON, 21st December. Mr. W. B. Pickering, a director and • general manager of Hadfields Limited, Sheffield, declares that the firm is not interested in the intended establishment of steelworks at Dunedin, New Zealand.
Last week a Press Association message gave a number of details of the proposal to establish iron and steel works in Dunedin, the chairman of the Dunedin Harbour Board (Mr. P. Loudon) making a definite statement: to the board in regard to the matter. It was even stated that he had conferred with the representative of Hadfields and that an area of four acres had been selected on the' foreshore at Ravensbourne, where it was intended to erect a factory handy to Dunedin and shipping.
