TECHNICAL COLLEGE
The monthly meeting of the Technical College Board of Governors was held last evening, Mr. W. H. Bennett being in the chair.
The report of the director stated that Miss Rennie, head of the home science section, returned to Wellington from abroad on 11th November, a,nd was welcomed at a reception by the staff. The annual sports were held at the Basil) Reserve on 30th October, and everything went off satisfactorily. Publication would shortly be made of the school magazine, tho editorship of which had been undertaken by Mr. N. Byrne. It was proposed to hold the annual swimming sports on 10th December at To Aro Baths. The report was adopted.
Over a hundred applications had been received by the director for the position of caretaker and cleaner from married couples. The appointments were finally made in favour of Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Ridnell.
A tender for the college flagstaff of £19 was accepted. The Commercial Advisory Committee reported that it had learned with regret of the resignation of Mr. F. H. -Harris, whose services had been much appreciated. The committee wished to compliment the college upon the recent excellent exhibition of students' work.
The Art Advisory Committee was pleased to note .that the number of students taking advantage of the improved facilities for art instruction had increased by fifty during the present session. There had been a general improvement in the quality of the work, which was especially marked in art metalwork. The report was received.
