RETIRED PUBLIC SERVANTS

The quarterly meeting of the PublicService Superannuation Board was held last week, Mr. J. W. Macdonald presiding. Thirty-three contributors, retired under Section 35 of the Act by reason of age or length of service, wero granted allowances of a total of £7886 per annum, and two contributors retired as medically unfit and were granted allowances totalling £81 per annum. A special allowance vjas granted to one contributor, retired on aecout of injuries received whilst on police duty. Ten widows and two children were granted tho statutory allowances^ amounting to £262 per annum.

In consequence of retirements under Section 35 of the Act, accrued compensation to the amount of £5027 became a liability of thn Superannuation Fund, and ft corresponding relief to the Consolidated Fund.
