SWIMMING

ISLAND BAY CLUB.

The season of the Island Bay Swimaing Club was officially opened on Saturday afternoon in chilly, windy weather. The president, Mr. Dicker, after outlining the eh.b's activities, expressed the hope that there would be co-operation between the members to make the season a successful one.

Mr. B. A. Wright, M.P., said he hoped that the forthcoming gala would be the means of raising sufficient money for the building of a pavilion. He had great pleasure in declaring the season opened. A scratch life-saving competition was held, the winning club being Maranui. ■ •
