Bond autl Co., ltd., manufacturers of silk hosiery and similar goods, Sydney and Wellington, report -'or tho year coded SOU] June net prolit of £50,501, after payment of £15,070 in land and income taxes. With £29,200 brought forward, tho total available was £79,782, from which has been paid on 10 per cent, lirst and second preference capital dividends aggregating £22.781. Tho directors have declared' a dividend of 0 per cent, per annum on tho ordinary share capital for the past year, payable in December.. Tills will require X'9ooo, and tho balance Is to be carried-forward. Marked progress has been achieved by the company during tlio live years since its establishment. Sales last year showed substantial increase. Tho directors report that they are. continually on the lookout for latest machinery, which will enKbio them to oianufacure at a reasonable cost, and that a progressive cauipigu of building is being conducted to house new machinery continually arriving. During the period under review the company lias developed cotton manufacture to a great extent. Large sums have been expended which, it in expected, will bear results in the next twelve months. The cotton mill for tho past year has been spinning at the rate of 15 tons of cotton yarn per week. An anplicatlou has' been made to the Commonwealth Tariff Board for a bounty on cotton yarn. It is pointed out that in spite of the fact thnt the company has been afforded some protection In underwear and towels, prices have not been raised; in s6ine Instances they have been reduced, the company relying on efficiency of prbduction and increased turnover to cut down overhead.
