The "Daily Chronicle's!' Luxor correspondent says: "This has been a day of days in the Valley of the Kings. Secretly the inner coffin of Tutankhamen was carried to the tomb of Seti II. ( and to-day the mummy Was gradually unwrapped. X-ray photographs taken through the burial clothes revealed dark splotches, which to-day were discovered to be royal jewels of ancient Egypt. One of the spectators said: 'No living man ever dreamed of such a find.' I learn tonight that it has been established that Tutankhamen died as a' boy of sixteen. Mr. Carter began unwrapping the mummy's feet. The head is still wrap* ped in hundreds of feet of fine linen, 30 the question of the crown of Upper and Lower Egypt is still unsolved. Mr. Carter refuses to be hurried, but protuberances on the bi'ow indicate that there is at least a disidem, if not a crown. The removal of bracelets, jewel-covered clothes, the contents of the royal jewel chests, and jewels sewn in clothing, left the excavators at last tired and blase as the objects were taken out in handfuls hour after hour. The finds were not confined to the inner coffin. . Many were inside the sarcophagus. Most of the jewels are discoloured, and will require careful polishing before their brilliance is apparent."
