: Tie facilities for the transport of the finished cement to the porf of shipment are excellont. The plant to* be installed will be of the most Hrtdern and up-to-date character, with all known labour-saving appliances. It is estimated that the cost of the Works, including machinery, plant, and. all buildings and accessories completo will not exceed £170,000. This is considoTcd to bo based on a liberal scale, and is supported by estimates from Messrs. F. L. Smidth aud Co., Copenhagen,-and should cover all costs. The latest system of wet procoss will be adopted, and the promoters are assured that cement will De produced of unequalled quality
The promoters have been extremely fortunate in securing options for water right 3 over a substantial water supply and high pressure system, including water-races. and reservoir,' on the construction of \ which many thousands of pounds were spent by a gold-mining, company many years ago. A very considerable advantage will be A that water will be delivered to the works at a pressure of approximately 60 to lOOlbs. per square inch, allowing the use of the water for sluicing away stripping from the limestone quarry faces, and also allowing the use of water for. driving subsidiary motors in the carpenters and engineers' shops, as well'as general water supply to the power plant and workers' and staff cottages in the vicinity.
The promoters have had very careful estimates made of the cost of manufacture at the proposed site, and have compared the estimates with those made recently in connection with works projected in Australia, and they are satisfied that the cemcut can be produced and put on the vessel f.o.b. Westport at about £2 per ton. _ NOTE.—Since the Prospectus (of whicft the above is an abridgement) has been issued it has been decided-to increase the initial capacity of the first unit to about 52,000 tons per annum. Taking into consideration the average selling prices in the various markets of th« Dominion, which is taken at the main centres at £5 Ba. per ton, and basing the calculations on.an output of 50,000 tons yearly, the promoters feel assured that the enterprise will show a profit of 275. 4d. per ton (less head office expenses, taxation, writ-ing-off, depreciation, etc.), leaving an estimated net profit equal to 15 per cent, on a capital of £230,000. ;
